Julia Kozerski – Half of Myself

Beautiful and intense series by Julia Kozerski, Half of Myself, featured in La Lettre. Back when I was in school I remember those students – and I am sure this exists in every art school in every college campus – whose main focus seemed to be their bodies. I remember thinking that even when it was ‘edgy’ there was still some hidden effort of making ones self remain in an attractive light. I can’t blame them, I think I was one of the only ones who took a photo of my feet in Homer Simpson slippers as my self portrait.. alas, the honest and sincerity in these photos are pretty stunning to me. See the rest, here.

..”These photographs are self-portraits. They serve as reflections of my experience and address and explore my physically and emotionally painful, private struggles with food, obsession, self-control, and self-image. These brutally honest images shed light on the truth of what it is like for me to live life as Half of myself.
