Park Slope Plane Crash

Historic November 4, 2010 10:48 am

On December 16, 1960 two planes collided over Staten Island – one plane landed in Staten Island and the other plane in Park Slope. The passengers on the plane (44 in one, and 84 on the others) died, as did 6 people on the ground. These photos from the Brooklyn Library, all shot by Irving I. Herzberg, are wonderful documents of the immediate aftermath. Its frightening how much it looks like a set from the Twilight Zone.
