10 Minutes with Timothy Devine

Interviews with Photographers November 29, 2010 10:46 am

Name: Timothy Devine

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Dream subject: Art Garfunkel.

Dream location: Anywhere warm.  But not hot.

If cameras all turned to stone, I would probably be: Carpenter slash furniture maker.

If I started a magazine, it would be on: How things are put together — machines, tools, houses.  Basically how systems work.

I am inspired by: People’s quirks.  There are so many, it never gets boring.

I am discouraged by: The lack of good movies on Netflix available for instant viewing.

An editor is most helpful when: They tell me exactly what they need, so that I can manage time and prioritize shots  — ironically, knowing I’ve given them what they asked for frees me up to think outside the box for the rest of the shoot.
