Name: José Mandojana
Location: Seattle, WA is homebase
Dream subject: My extended family in Argentina. It’s been a goal of mine for 8 years, and I just need to make it happen.
Dream location: Somewhere with a view of the Aegean Sea or on a boat in the Aegean Sea
If cameras all turned to stone, I would probably be: Depressed, seriously depressed. But I’d rally and probably get a job working at some National Park doing environmental work since going back to school for another fancy degree doesn’t sound to appealing to me. Law School was a bust and Med School still sort of interests me, but that would be a huge commitment.
If I started a magazine, it would be on: A magazine on Educators making a difference in schools across the country and world. Think ‘Wired’ focusing strictly on education. Teachers and Professors have a great impact on our society and it would be nice to have a well done magazine bringing attention to the field.
I am inspired by: Getting out on my bike and listening to good music. Surrounding myself with books, art, and people are good too.
I am discouraged by: The internets. While I love being connected to everyone, I feel the human relationship as a whole suffers.
An editor is most helpful when: They hire me for what I do. It’s a good feeling when there’s a level of trust and that my body of work helps build that trust. I also love when an editor really helps out with the production end – booking travel, logistical things, etc. I know its not always possible, but it’s nice when it happens.
(Jose was kind enough to send over some of his newest work, which I am posting here. Make sure to check out the rest of his work on his site, here)
